About the Arc of Gr. Fall River
The Arc of Greater Fall River has a long and rich history. It was formed more than fifty years ago by volunteer parents seeking support and services for their children with mental retardation and related developmental disabilities. As a non-profit human service organization, a volunteer Board of Directors governs us. The Board of Directors represents the members of our chapter in providing oversight and guidance to the organizations paid employees. The Arc of Greater Fall River has a highly trained and dedicated professional staff. We are licensed and certified with distinction by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Retardation.
Our Mission:
The Arc of Greater Fall River, an affiliate of Arc Massachusetts and a member of the Arc of the United States, works to improve the quality of life for children and adults with mental retardation and related developmental disabilities and their families through education, research and advocacy.
The Arc of Greater Fall River actively develops, promotes and provides educational, vocational and family support systems, which allows choices and encourages efforts by individuals with mental retardation and related developmental disabilities to reach one’s own potential.
The Arc of Greater Fall River is committed to helping persons and families learn effective advocacy skills to ensure appropriate opportunity of each person to choose and realize one’s own individual goals of where and how they live, learn, work and recreate.
